Russell
Cannaday, 73, of Boones Mill, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday,
March 11, 2008, due to complications with heart surgery. Russell was
born June 27, 1934. He was a member of Piedmont Presbyterian Church
and was a kind hearted Christian who was loved by all that knew him.
Russell was a successful businessman who enjoyed classic cars,
bluegrass music and was a great mandolin player. Preceding Russell in
death were his parents, Manfred and Bettie Cannaday; and a son, Leon
Cannaday. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years,
Nelda Cannaday; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Gene Didlake; their
daughter, Amber Didlake; son and daughter-in-law, Dean and Donna
Cannaday; granddaughter, Kelly England and her husband, Jason;
great-grandchildren, Kaylin Walston and Dylan England; brother and
sister-in-law, Daniel and Carol Cannaday; nephews, David Cannaday and
Lyn Cannaday; niece, Anita Scott; many relatives and loving friends.
Funeral services @ Redeeming Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, Rocky
Mount with the Rev. Leonard Martin, the Rev. Harold Moyer and the Rev.
David Smith officiating. Interment was @ Mountain View Memorial
Park.

Robert C. (Bob) Naff Jr.
Robert C. (Bob) Naff Jr., 77, of Boones Mill, died Thursday, August 14,
2008. He was a graduate of Boones Mill High School and attended Virginia
Tech. Bob was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren and was a
United States Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a dairy farmer
most of his life, after which he was a bailiff for Franklin County
Juvenile and Domestic Court and he was a part time guard at Ronile. Bob
was a longtime member of both the Boones Mill Lions Club and Rescue Squad,
and was a staunch Democrat and a devoted Boston Red Sox fan. In his
younger years, Bob had lots of fun with his friends at the old A & V. Bob
was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Hudson Naff; his mother, Clytie
Jamison Naff; his father, Robert Chester Naff Sr.; and his brother, Euell
W. Naff. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Mary Katherine Adkins and
husband, Keith; stepson, John Clifford Simms; several step grandchildren;
sisters-in-law, Mary Louise Hudson Williams, Martha Hudson Divers, Frances
Hudson Dooley and Martha Ann Naff; and nephew, Leighton Naff. Also
surviving are his very, very special friends, Judy and Mike Byrd; aunts,
Jean Naff, Ethel Naff, Vivian Martin and Janet Sanders; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2008, from
Bethlehem Church of the Brethren with the Pastor Harold Moyer and the Rev.
J. Willard Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View
Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 17, 2008,
from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky
Mount, Va. |

James H. Wingfield Jr. |

James
H. Wingfield Jr., of Boones Mill, went to be with his Lord on March
16, 2008, after several years of illness. He is the son of the late
James H. Wingfield Sr. and Lucy Padgett Wingfield of Bedford. He was
also preceded in death by brothers, Robert and Walter; and sister,
Edna Waldron. He was a World War II veteran, employed by the American
Visco, Wilson Trucking, was the founding pastor of Gospel Grace
Brethren Church, and also pastored and retired from Garden City Grace
Brethren Church, both of Roanoke. James and his wife, Mildred, owned
and operated the Green Life Florist and Garden Center near Rocky Mount
for 23 years. He was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren,
Boones Mill, where he taught an adult Sunday School Class in recent
years. He is survived by Mildred King Wingfield, his loving wife of 60
years; his son, Pastor Mike Wingfield and wife Joyce; a daughter,
Brenda McManaway, and husband, Charles; three grandchildren, Michele
Haynes and husband, Donovan, Gary Helton, and wife, Carla, and Joshua
Wingfield, and wife, Sheila (Dee Dee); five great-grandchildren,
Adriana, Joleigh, Eric, Jacob and Gavin; and one brother, Rufus
Wingfield. James leaves behind the legacy of being a godly example to
his family and all those who knew him. He was a faithful pastor and
dedicated evangelist, leading many souls to his Lord. Funeral services
@ Flora Funeral Chapel Wednesday, March 19, 2008, with Pastors Mike
Wingfield and Harold Moyer officiating. Interment was @ Bethlehem
Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

Ethel Mae Yopp Gibson
1930 - 2008
Ethel Mae Yopp Gibson, 78, of Boones Mill, Va., went
to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 2, 2008. She was born August 20,
1930, a daughter of the late Ted Roosevelt and Cora Margaret Sloan Yopp.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Wayne Alvin Gibson; three
brothers; and two sisters. She was a faithful member of Bethlehem Church
of the Brethren and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to
many. Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband of 61 years, Simon Peter
Gibson; children, Jesse Gibson and wife, Brenda, Michael Gibson and wife,
Rita, and David Gibson and fianc�e, Tamara Greene; grandchildren, Marcie
Charles and husband, Eric, Lisa Gibson, Melissa McBride and husband, Wes,
and Amy and Thomas Gibson; greatgrandchildren, Madisen Taylor Charles and
Alexus Victoria McBride; brothers, Joe Yopp and Howard Yopp; sister, Faye
Carter; special friend, Joyce Yopp; and many other family and friends. The
family wishes to extend a special thanks to Carilion Home Health and
Carilion Hospice of Franklin County. Funeral services will be conducted 2
p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2008, at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren with the
Rev. Harold Moyer and the Rev. J. Willard Bowman officiating. Interment
will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery. Her family will be receiving
friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 4,
